Dear brothers and sisters,a when I was with you I couldn’t talk to you as I would to spiritual people.b I had to talk as though you belonged to this world or as though you were infants in Christ.

Так вот, братья, я не мог говорить с вами как с людьми духовными, но говорил вам как людям, находящимся под властью старой греховной природы[13], как младенцам во Христе.

I had to feed you with milk, not with solid food, because you weren’t ready for anything stronger. And you still aren’t ready,

Я кормил вас молоком, а не твердой пищей, потому что вы ещё не были способны принимать её, да и теперь ещё не способны,

for you are still controlled by your sinful nature. You are jealous of one another and quarrel with each other. Doesn’t that prove you are controlled by your sinful nature? Aren’t you living like people of the world?

ведь вы по-прежнему находитесь под властью старой греховной природы. Пока среди вас существуют зависть и споры, вы остаетесь прежними людьми и ведете себя так, как люди этого мира.

When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world?

Ну чем вы отличаетесь от других, когда говорите: «Я — сторонник Павла» или «Я — Аполлоса»?

After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us.

Ведь кто такой Аполлос? И кто такой Павел? Мы лишь служители, благодаря которым вы поверили в Христа. Каждый из нас сделал то дело, которое ему поручил Господь.

I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow.

Я сажал, Аполлос поливал, а выращивал Бог.

It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow.

Поэтому ничего не значит ни тот, кто сажает, ни тот, кто поливает, а лишь Бог, Который выращивает.

The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work.

Тот, кто сажает, и тот, кто поливает, имеют одну цель, и каждый получит награду за свой труд.

For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.

Ведь мы сотрудники у Бога, а вы — Его поле, Его строение.

Because of God’s grace to me, I have laid the foundation like an expert builder. Now others are building on it. But whoever is building on this foundation must be very careful.

По благодати, данной мне Богом, я, как мудрый строитель, заложил основание, а продолжает строительство кто-то другой. Но каждый должен смотреть внимательно, как он строит.

For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have — Jesus Christ.

Никто не может заложить другой фундамент, кроме того, который уже заложен, и этот фундамент — Иисус Христос.

Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials — gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw.

На этом фундаменте человек может строить из золота, серебра, из драгоценных камней, из дерева, из сена или соломы,

But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.

но наступит День, когда выявится, кто как строил. В тот День всё будет испытано огнем, и огонь покажет качество работы каждого.

If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward.

Если постройка устоит, то строивший получит свою награду;

But if the work is burned up, the builder will suffer great loss. The builder will be saved, but like someone barely escaping through a wall of flames.

если же сгорит, то он понесет убыток. Сам он, однако, будет спасен, но спасен как бы из огня.

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives inc you?

Разве вы не знаете, что вы вместе — храм Божий и что в вас живет Дух Божий?

God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

Если кто-либо разрушит Божий храм, того разрушит Бог, потому что храм Божий свят, а храм этот — вы.

Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.

Не обманывайте самих себя. Если кто из вас думает, что по представлениям этого мира он мудр, то ему надо стать «глупым», чтобы быть мудрым на самом деле.

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.”d

Ведь мудрость этого мира — глупость в глазах Божьих. Написано: «Он ловит мудрых на их же хитрость»[14],

And again, “The LORD knows the thoughts of the wise; he knows they are worthless.”e

и ещё: «Господь знает, что помыслы мудрого — всего лишь суета».[15]

So don’t boast about following a particular human leader. For everything belongs to you —

Поэтому не хвалитесь людьми. Вам принадлежит всё:

whether Paul or Apollos or Peter,f or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you,

будь то Павел, или Аполлос, или Кифа[16], или этот мир, жизнь или смерть, настоящее или будущее — всё принадлежит вам,

and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

вы же сами принадлежите Христу, а Христос — Богу.
